YOUR QUESTIONS, ANSWERED:

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

What exactly do I get when I use the Smart Canvas 3.0 and register my artwork with the NFC chip?
    • The form opens when you scan the NFC chip (no apps required: just hold your phone near it and the registration page opens).

    • Artwork registration: you complete the form and upload the data and images/files requested.

    • Automatic generation of the Certificate of Authenticity, including a complete technical record of the artwork on ArteCertificado.

    • Publication of a public artwork page/record (the online “certificate”), accessible directly from the chip.

    • Permanent link from the NFC chip to that page: scan it again and it takes you straight to the published artwork.

    • Display in the website’s gallery for sale (depending on your model, with no commission charged by ArteCertificado).

In short: the chip acts as a “key” that opens the registration form and then remains permanently linked to a public, verifiable artwork record accessible from any smartphone.

Do I need to install any app to use the NFC chip in the canvas?

No. You don’t need to install any app.
You simply hold your phone close to the NFC chip in the canvas and the registration link opens automatically.

iPhone: NFC is usually enabled by default. Unlock your phone and hold it near the canvas.

Android: Enable NFC in Settings (Connections / NFC) and then hold the phone near the canvas.

If it doesn’t detect it the first time, remove the phone case and try holding the phone slightly closer to the chip area.

What happens exactly after submitting the form? When will I see the Certificate of Authenticity?

After clicking “Submit”, the system automatically creates the complete record of your artwork on ArteCertificado: the Certificate of Authenticity and the public technical record.

To view it and check that everything is correct:

  • Hold your phone close to the NFC chip in the canvas again.

  • The link will open and display the published artwork with all the details you have just registered.

If it does not appear immediately, wait a few seconds and scan again (occasionally it takes a short moment to be generated).

Can I register the artwork from a computer, or only from a mobile phone?

You can do it both ways.

On a mobile phone: hold the phone close to the NFC chip and the form will open.

On a computer: first scan the chip with your phone, copy the URL that opens, and paste it into the address bar of your computer’s browser. The same form will open so you can complete it from your computer.

Is my artwork record public or private?

The artwork record is public.
This means that anyone who holds their phone close to the canvas (or has the link) will be able to view the certificate and the information you have chosen to publish.

Your control lies in which details you decide to complete and display in the form (for example, whether or not you include price, availability for sale, social links, and so on).

What makes the chip tamper-proof and impossible to duplicate?

The NFC chip in the Smart Canvas 3.0 is linked to a unique identifier and to the public artwork record created on ArteCertificado.
In practice, this means that:

  • Each chip points to a single URL with its own TAG (chip) and to one specific registered artwork, including date and author details.

  • If someone attempts to “copy” the artwork, they may reproduce the image, but they cannot replicate the same digital identity linked to the original chip and registration.

  • The value lies in traceability: the first registration associated with that TAG (chip) is the one that remains as the verifiable reference.

In short, this is not “just a nice piece of paper”, but a unique digital identity permanently linked to the physical support and accessible directly from the canvas itself.

If I sell the painting, does the new buyer become the “owner” on ArteCertificado? Can the author or the artwork record be changed?

The buyer can view the artwork record via the NFC chip, but cannot modify it.

If you sell the artwork or need to update any details (for example: “sold”, new exhibitions, restoration, price change, etc.), you can request changes by sending an email from your author email address to:

MarketingArteCertificado@gmail.com

In your message, include the artwork link/URL (or the TAG/ID) and specify which information you would like to update.

What happens if I lose the link or can’t remember my artwork’s TAG (chip ID)?

Nothing happens. The link lives in the canvas itself.

To retrieve it, simply hold your phone close to the NFC chip again and the artwork record will open.

If you need to locate it without having the canvas with you (for example, to request a correction), send an email to MarketingArteCertificado@gmail.com with the author’s name and any details you remember (title, dimensions, approximate date), and we will help you identify it.

What happens if the canvas is damaged, broken or restored? Is access to the artwork record lost?

The artwork record remains available on ArteCertificado.com because it is published online.
What may be affected is the ability to read the NFC chip if the support suffers significant damage precisely in the chip area.

In the event of damage or restoration, the important point is that the artwork retains:

  • its public record,

  • its history (including the restoration, if you wish to document it),

  • and its certificate.

If you need to record the incident or update the artwork’s status, write to MarketingArteCertificado@gmail.com with the artwork link/TAG and the details of the damage or restoration.

Do I need to pay a subscription or renewals, or is everything included when I buy the canvas?

There are no subscriptions and no renewals.
When you purchase the Smart Canvas 3.0, everything is included: opening the registration form via the NFC chip, artwork registration, creation of the Certificate of Authenticity, and publication of the artwork record on ArteCertificado.com (including the online gallery).

The certificate is generated by the artist when registering the artwork, providing full authorship and technical documentation, with a level of detail far superior to a typical generic downloadable certificate.

Is the Certificate of Authenticity “legally valid” and does it serve as proof of authorship?

Yes. The certificate functions as a declaration of authorship because it is created and signed by the artist when registering the artwork, recording the author, date, technique, dimensions, and associated documentation (images, process, history).

In practice, it serves as strong evidence of provenance and traceability for third parties (buyers, galleries, experts), as the certificate is published and can be accessed from the canvas at any time.

Does ArteCertificado charge a commission if I sell my artwork through the record page?

No. ArteCertificado does not charge any commission on sales.
The artwork record is used to present the piece and facilitate contact, but the sale and negotiation take place directly between the buyer and the artist, privately and without intermediaries.

Can I register more than one artwork using the same canvas or the same chip?

No. Each Smart Canvas 3.0 includes an NFC chip that is associated with one single artwork.
Once you register an artwork with that chip, it becomes permanently linked to that specific record and certificate. To register another artwork, you need a different canvas with a different chip.

Can I add photos and videos of the creative process? Is there any limit?

Yes. You can add photos and videos to document the artwork (process, final result, details, and so on).

If, in any case, the form does not allow you to upload everything you need, you can complete the documentation by requesting an extension or update by writing to MarketingArteCertificado@gmail.com, including the artwork link/TAG.

Can I put my artwork up for sale or remove it from sale whenever I want?

Yes. The artwork record can show whether the piece is for sale (and the price, if you choose to include it), or it can remain as an informational record only.

If you want to change its status (put it up for sale, change the price, or mark it as sold), send an email to MarketingArteCertificado@gmail.com with the artwork link/TAG and the change you need.

What happens if my artwork is stolen? Can I add a public alert linked to the chip?

Yes. If an artwork is stolen or goes missing, you can request an alert to be added and linked to its record.

Send an email to MarketingArteCertificado@gmail.com and include:

  • the artwork link/TAG,

  • the approximate date and place of the theft,

  • and the short alert text you want to publish.

This way, if someone scans the chip or accesses the record, they will see that the artwork is marked as stolen or missing, helping to prevent good-faith purchases and leaving a documented trace.
